Treeport expands its reach through GGP.news

Treeport has joined GGP.news. This gives the cooperative association an additional platform to bring projects, knowledge and developments from the tree nursery industry to the attention of a broader group of professionals. According to manager David Bömer, the collaboration fits well with Treeport’s position within the industry. “We have a strong network of our own, but we would like to reach people beyond that network.”

Treeport is firmly rooted in West Brabant, but deliberately looks beyond its own region. Within the association, tree growers, suppliers and other parties work together on issues that are important for the development of the industry. GGP.news offers Treeport the opportunity to give this collaboration and its results greater visibility.

“Actually, it is the same reason why GrootGroenPlus is an alliance partner of Treeport,” says Bömer. “There is a mutual interest. Treeport benefits from GrootGroenPlus and GGP.news, and the other way around.”

More reach

Treeport has its own communication channels, through which it reaches its affiliated companies directly. But of course, that reach has its limits. “We have our own newsletter, which allows us to communicate in a very targeted way. But you also want to reach people who are not yet affiliated with us.”

This is not just about recruiting new members. Above all, Bömer wants to show what Treeport is working on and the role the organisation plays within the industry. “If companies regularly see what great projects we are working on, they might want to become part of that too.”

Not just for growers

That message is explicitly not aimed solely at tree growers. Treeport works across the entire supply chain, and suppliers and other organisations also play an important role in various projects. Bömer believes these parties should be visible as well.

Current topics such as water management show how this works in practice. Growers face new challenges and regulations, while specialised companies have knowledge and technologies that can contribute to solutions. Treeport brings these parties together.

“By treating project partners from different parts of the sector equally and communicating about them in the same way, you create engagement and present a stronger joint story to the outside world.”

No product promotion

Bömer does draw a clear line, however. Treeport will not become a commercial channel for individual members.

Instead, Treeport focuses on shared interests, knowledge sharing and projects that are relevant to multiple companies.

This will also be the starting point for the collaboration with GGP.news. Throughout the year, Treeport and GGP.news will regularly consider which projects and developments are interesting enough to bring to a wider audience.

Bömer: “It is useful to communicate about important topics as broadly as possible. Otherwise, you end up going around in circles within your own network.”
