That following education can also be done differently, the Yuverta Digital Nomads prove during their third edi-tion. 25 Yuverta mbo students travelled through several European countries from 26 February to 28 March 2024 with the aim of showing that learning can be done anywhere. The students discovered a way of learning that gives you much more than just knowledge.

Last month, 25 Yuverta mbo students and six tutors went on an inspiring journey through several European countries, aiming to show that learning can be done anywhere. Equipped with a learning guide full of study assignments, their regular schoolwork and personal goals in their backpack, the students worked on school during the trip. Along the way, they visited schools, die gardens and community organisations, toured cities, made online presentations and worked on school behind their laptops.  

Distance education

Along the way, the students, together with their supervisors, reflected several times on the learning process and what insights they gained. One of the striking findings last month was the high degree of effectiveness with which the students worked on their schoolwork. Because of the confidence and autonomy given to the students to work at their own pace, they experienced less stress and achieved excellent learning outcomes. 

"I went to school before this trip with a lot of stress and reluctance. I even considered quitting my education. But because of this different way of studying during the Digital Nomads trip, I noticed that this form of education suits me so well. I have therefore contacted my coach to see whether I can continue my education in this way after I return to the Netherlands," says one of the Digital Nomads students. 

Discovering yourself

Digital Nomads shows that this is education in which you also learn to allow yourself to be yourself, to discover who else you want to be and that learning is so much more than grades. Through self-reflection and exploring their own identity, the Digital Nomads have learned to be themselves and find their place in the world. By building students' sense of responsibility, competences such as flexibility, perseverance and self-reliance grew that will come in handy in everyone's future.
