After several successful years including wins for Semponium Destiny (2022) and Agapanthus BlackJack (2023) as Plant of the Year, Plantipp again has 10 entries ready for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year. These entries are presented by Hayloft, T&M, Hillier and Kernock Park Plants.

Striking flowers

Clematis Guernsey Flute ('EviGsy153'PBR) from renowned Clematis breeder Raymond J. Evison stands out with large, star-shaped, pure white flowers up to about 14 cm in diameter and striking red stamens. Agastache Beelicious Pink ('Agapk'PBR) is acclaimed as possibly the most impressive Agastache on the market. With large, pink flower spikes, a compact habit, profuse flowering and long flowering period ensures extra-long enjoyment.

The well-known Trachelospermum asiaticum Star of Milano® ('TRSUZ01') also catches the eye immediately with its dark green with creamy white, glossy leaves. Star of Milano flowers very profusely with pink, fragrant flowers for an extra long flowering period: from May to September. The new, compact and city-friendly Philadelphus Petite Perfume series has been welcomed with open arms. Philadelphus Petite Perfume White ('W1'PBR) blooms for no less than six weeks during the summer with hundreds of, sweetly scented flowers that attract bees and butterflies to the landscape from far and wide.

Climate-proof top performers

Visitors will find plenty of novelties this year where flowering power and climate resistance are paramount. After the global success of the Delosperma Ocean Sunset, Sun Diamonds, Wheels of Wonder® and Jewel of Desert series, Koichiro Nishikawa is ready to launch the next revolutionary series. The new Delosperma Desert Dancers Red ('FSDD2112'PBR) and Purple ('FSDD2117'PBR) stand out head and shoulders above the current range with their unique, intensely dark red foliage that enhances the visual appeal of the landscape even without a flower.

The impressive new garden hero Papaver orientale Red Rumble ('HG01'PBR) is already loved for its reliable garden performance, year after year its strong flower stems, extra-large bright red flowers and compact growth habit return. Another top performer for the landscape are the beloved Sempervivum Chick Charms® Giants, where now the striking Chick Charms® Giants Gold Mine ('GGM2022') can finally be admired in the flesh.

Also new for 2024 are Musa sikkimensis Ever Red ('Lou 1'PBR), an impressive ornamental plant for both indoor and outdoor use and Mahonia eurybracteata Meteor, a standout with architectural leaf shape and young, deep red leaves that transform through the seasons.

The Mangave Mad about Mangave® series can also welcome another new addition. Mangave Mad about Mangave® 'Praying Hands' PBR surprises with a totally new look and strikingly colourful leaves.
