GrootGroenPlus puts retail in the spotlight with the Garden Centre Event

The international trade fair GrootGroenPlus is responding to the growing importance of sustainability in the retail sector with special activities during its 35th edition, taking place from 1 to 3 October 2025. The event will provide garden centres, cash & carry businesses, and other green sector specialists with unique insights into current sustainability topics and opportunities to expand their knowledge and networks.

Meeting the needs of the retail sector

Retail is an important, yet still relatively small, target group within GGP. In 2024, 5% of visitors came from garden centres, marking an increase from 2023. To further expand this group and make the trade fair more relevant to the retail sector, the Garden Centre Event is being organised. This event will offer practical knowledge and inspiration on key green industry topics.

Highlights Garden Centre Event and construction of Green Climate Square

The Garden Centre Event, which takes place on Friday 3 October, features a half-day programme, starting after lunch with an insightful seminar. This seminar will cover two essential sustainability themes, which are the Green Climate Square and drought-resistant plants.

The Green Climate Square is a successful collaboration between garden centres, governments, and nature organisations to promote climate-resilient gardens. This initiative brings together all key stakeholders and helps consumers make informed choices for a greener living environment.

With climate change increasing the risk of drought, green spaces must become more resilient. Garden centres play a crucial role in this transition. The second part of the seminar will provide practical insights into the benefits and applications of drought-resistant plant species. Additionally, for all three days of the trade fair, a Green Climate Square will be set up.

Accessibility and reach

The event primarily targets garden centres in the Netherlands and Belgium, with simultaneous translation available for international participants. The seminar’s content will also be actively shared via GGP.News, social media, and industry partners, ensuring that the knowledge reaches a broad audience.

This event highlights GGP’s commitment to attracting a wider visitor base and preparing the industry for the future. Are you active in the retail sector and looking to explore sustainable opportunities? Make sure to attend GrootGroenPlus 2025, and don’t miss this special event!

The trade fair is free to visit for trade visitors. eParticipation in the Garden Centre Event is by invitation only and requires registration. However, thanks to funding from the European Plant Support Foundation’s stimulation fund, participation in this event, as well as access to the Green Climate Square and its resources, is completely free of charge.
