Boomkwekerij Verpaalen from Zundert is undergoing a new phase of growth and specialisation. Under the leadership of Hein Verpaalen, who has taken over from his parents Harry and Jeanette, the nursery is focusing on exclusivity and premium quality. At the GrootGroenPlus trade fair, the company presents itself with distinctive varieties that reflect its commitment to excellence.

The nursery specialises in well-branched, deciduous shrubs that serve as starting material for other growers. ‘GrootGroenPlus is the ideal start of our delivery season,’ says Hein Verpaalen. ‘It’s the moment to meet existing partners and connect with new ones. Last year we introduced Cornus ‘Nightfall’, which generated a lot of positive attention. By expanding our range, we hope to reach new markets and strengthen relationships.’

A major milestone is the collaboration with Proven Winners, an international network known for its high-quality plant genetics. Boomkwekerij Verpaalen is the first field-grown nursery in Europe authorised to cultivate and supply Proven Winners varieties. ‘My ambition is to link exclusive plant lines to our nursery,’ Verpaalen explains. ‘Proven Winners stands for innovation and top quality, with leading Hydrangea series such as ‘Strong Annabelle’ and ‘Little Lime Punch’. Through this partnership, we gain visibility and strengthen our position in the market.’

The nursery also produces Hydrangea ‘Living Creations’, bred by Alex Schoemaker. ‘Living Creations is a strong brand recognised by growers, exporters and consumers alike,’ says Verpaalen. ‘There’s a lot of innovation in this line, and we’re proud to be part of it. Customers looking for something unique increasingly find their way to us.’
