Jongenelen Machines puts precision fertilization into a higher gear

In modern tree nursery and container cultivation, fertilisation has become a matter of precision. Rising fertiliser prices, stricter environmental regulations and the demand for labour efficiency mean that more and more growers are turning to machines that deliver exactly the right amount of fertiliser in the right place. Based in Klundert, Jongenelen Machines has developed into a full-service supplier of fertilisation solutions – from handheld systems to fully automated machines.
‘We always look at the bigger picture,’ says owner Michel Jongenelen. ‘Not just at the machine itself, but at the entire fertilisation process: pot size, crop stage, logistics, precision and labour use. That way, we find the right solution for every grower.’
The company’s strength lies in the combination of three complementary machines: the Topdresser XL, the Fielddresser XL and the DP3D FX100. Together, they form a complete system that enables precision fertilisation at every stage of production.
The Topdresser XL is a stationary machine positioned along the potting or pruning line. It applies an exact, preset dose of fertiliser to each pot – with the option to mix up to four different fertilisers simultaneously. Switching between types or doses takes just minutes. ‘The machine does exactly what it should,’ says grower Ruud Schoenmakers of Kwekerij Son & Koot. ‘It’s solidly built and very accurate. I would definitely recommend it.’
The Fielddresser XL performs the same task directly in the field or greenhouse. It drives over rows of pots or trays, applying fertiliser on-site without the need to move plants. This makes it ideal for treating large surfaces quickly and accurately, applying base or mid-season fertilisation with ease.
For small batches or targeted application, Jongenelen developed the DP3D FX100 – a handheld dosing unit that allows quick, precise fertilisation of specific areas. ‘There’s no other device on the market that can fertilise this quickly and accurately,’ says Jongenelen. The DP3D FX100 can be used both manually in the field and in stationary setups, helping growers reduce waste and increase control.
Beyond the machines, Jongenelen provides comprehensive service and advice. The company supports growers with setup, calibration and optimisation to ensure optimal use from day one. ‘Our goal is to get more efficiency out of fertilisation and to help growers cultivate more resilient crops,’ concludes Jongenelen.
