The power of the collective

One of the participants at trade fair GrootGroenPlus trade is the Coöperatieve Vereniging Treeport Zundert e.o. U.A. (Treeport), which consists of approximately 180 tree growers from the wider region. Treeport also actively collaborates with alliance partners, including the Brabantse Delta water board. Manager David Bömer says: "We engage in discussions with a positive, constructive attitude."

De kracht van het collectief

Een van de deelnemers aan vakbeurs GrootGroenPlus is de Coöperatieve Vereniging Treeport Zundert e.o. U.A. (Treeport), waarvan zo’n 180 boomkwekers uit de ruime regio lid zijn. Treeport werkt ook actief samen met alliantiepartners, waaronder waterschap Brabantse Delta. Manager David Bömer: ‘Wij gaat het gesprek aan vanuit een positieve, constructieve grondhouding.’

Cooling without worries

Located at Business Centre Treeport, on the border with Belgium, the Treehub features a state-of-the-art cold storage facility. BCT Treehub Cold Store BV specialises in cooling often delicate products, such as those from the tree nursery industry. The cold store was built with the tree nursery industry as its primary target audience and will present itself as such during trade fair GrootGroenPlus. Koelen zonder kopzorgen

Op Business Centre Treeport, op de grens met België, ligt de Treehub met het hypermoderne koelhuis. BCT Treehub Cold Store BV is gespecialiseerd in het koelen van vaak kwetsbare producten, zoals boomkwekerijproducten. Het koelhuis is gebouwd met als primaire doelgroep de boomkwekerijsector en zal zich ook als zodanig presenteren tijdens de vakbeurs GrootGroenPlus. Hier ontdekken deelnemers en bezoekers meer over de verregaande service van het koelhuis.

Groene toonzaal van Business Centre Treeport

Het terrein van Business Centre Treeport (BCT) beslaat aan de Nederlandse zijde 54 hectare. Hiervan wordt 12 hectare ingericht als groen- en natuurgebied met onder meer wadi's, bomen, wandelpaden, vaste planten en bloemen- en kruidenmengsels. Eén onderdeel hiervan is een zaadgaard, een opstand met bomen en planten die genetisch hoogwaardig zaad leveren voor boomkwekerijen. Voor advies en inrichting wordt gebruikgemaakt van de werkgroep Agrobiodiversiteit van de Coöperatieve Vereniging Treeport Zundert.

De uitdagingen van een extreem natte winter en voorjaar voor boomkwekerijen en bestaand groen

Afgelopen winter en voorjaar is er meer neerslag gevallen dan in voorgaande jaren. Dat heeft bij veel kwekerijen en ook bij bestaand groen, zoals stadsparken en tuinen, gezorgd voor aanzienlijke uitdagingen. Overvolle waterwegen en verzadigde bodems zijn niet alleen een tijdelijk ongemak, maar hebben langdurige gevolgen voor de gezondheid en groei van bomen en planten.

Challenges of an extremely wet winter and spring for tree nurseries and existing green spaces

This past winter and spring, more rainfall has been recorded than in previous years. This has posed significant challenges for many tree nurseries and existing green spaces, such as city parks and gardens. Overflowing waterways and saturated soils are not just a temporary inconvenience; they have long-lasting effects on the health and growth of trees and plants.

The Business Centre Treeport (BCT) site covers 54 hectares on the Dutch side. Of this, 12 hectares will be dedicated to green and nature areas, featuring elements such as wadis, trees, walking paths, perennials, and flower and herb mixes. One significant part of this development is the creation of a seed orchard, consisting of trees and plants that produce high-quality seeds for tree nurseries. The Agrobiodiversity work group from Coöperatieve Vereniging Treeport Zundert provides advice and guidance for this initiative.
